Encore Dance Competition

This past weekend was the Encore dance competition. On Thursday, Gabby's solo earned Platinum and she was 1 of 5 dancers in her division to earn a scholarship to the Encore National Convention. She also placed first in category and first overall! So very proud of her!

Adriana's group was fantastic their last time to compete this year. Their tap number received Platinum and third overall. Their jazz received Platinum, first in category and Grand Champion out of 36 petite dances yesterday. They were incredible on stage! It's a very talented group of young girls.

Gabby's group was on fire yesterday! The jazz small group earned Platinum, first in category and first overall. They were also named Grand Champion out of 52 junior dances. Way to go!  The jazz large group and hip hop large group received Platinum and first and second in category respectively. So proud of these girls!

Celebrating!

Spring time fun!

No surprise that we're staying super busy this spring. In addition to dance competition, all 3 girls are playing softball or t-ball. It's really fun and we spend a couple times a week at the fields to cheer on our girls. And we're still busy with school activities as well.

Christina's pre-school class had fairytale week. Each child was encouraged to dress up as a fairy tale character each day. Christina planned all her outfits out in advance...Tuesday she was Alice, Wednesday she was Cinderella and Thursday she dressed as Rapunzel.  

Christina's first t-ball game last night and she is a natural! She hit the ball off the tee like she has been doing it for years and she fielded the ball. She charged it almost every time it came close to her. So proud of her effort. All of these years watching from the stands has paid off!

The older girls had their opening games tonight and they did a good job. Adriana is now in a league where they hit from a pitching machine. If after 3 pitches the player doesn't make contact with a ball that goes into fair play, she can swing once for the tee. Gabby's league is a pitching machine with the traditional pitch counts. Great job, girls!

Mark of Excellence Dance Competition

Last weekend the girls competed in the Mark of Excellence Dance competition. On Friday night, Gabby's solo earned Platinum and tied for second overall. We are so proud of her! 

On Saturday, the girls' groups competed. Adriana's jazz placed first in category and second overall with a High Gold. Her tap placed first in category and fourth overall with a High Gold. They did great! 

Gabby's jazz small group earned Platinum and first in category and second oveall. Her junior large group jazz and hop hop earned Platinum and first and second overall respectively. Congrats to all the KMDP dancers for a great competition!

Spring Break 2017 - Santa Fe, New Mexico

We had a wonderful time in New Mexico on our spring break! It was our first time visiting the city. We skied (first time for the girls and me), ate delicious food, enjoyed art and museums, shopped and took in the beautiful scenery and weather. Ski Santa Fe was the perfect place for our family our first time (for 4 of 5 of us) to ski. It was relaxed, quaint and fun. We had a blast and the girls look forward to our next ski trip!

Christina did so well. The older girls saw her at ski school our first day and said she was the only one in her class going down the hill without falling.

After skiing for two days, we spent the rest of our time in Santa Fe visiting different sights. This is us at Our Lady of Guadeloupe historic church.

The girls enjoyed our visit to the Museum of Folk Art.

We had a blast at Meow Wolf -- it's a choose your own adventure attraction.

Gabby told us a couple months ago that she didn't want a birthday party this year but rather a sleepover with a couple friends. So, that is what she did. On Friday night, Gabby and I, along with two of her close friends, went out to dinner at Upper Crust (one of her favorite places) and then they spent the night at our house. The next morning after a great breakfast prepared by David I brought the girls, along with Adriana, to get manicures and pedicures at a really nice salon not too far from our house. Gabby and her friends were a great group to hang out with  -- fun, respectful and silly! Cheers to turning 10!

Happy 10th Birthday, Gabriella!

Today is Gabriella's 10th birthday! She came into this world on her due date and has lived everyday of her life with zest and love. Gabby has grown into a passionate, fun-loving, kind and talented young girl. Her bravery, positive attitude and resiliency inspires us all. She is a wonderful big sister and handles the duties of being the oldest with patience and grace. We love her so much and are thankful God blessed us with her 10 years ago today! Happy Birthday, Gabby!

It's hard for me to fully digest she is 10. I can remember so many days, outfits and things she has said throughout the last decade as if they all happened just the other day. It's all going by so quickly and I'm trying to savor it every step of the way. We love you, Gabby!
