Visiting Family from Pennsylvania

The last two weeks have been a lot of fun! Aunt Margaret and Uncle Sam arrived in Lawrence nearly two weeks ago to visit with us and attend the KU vs. Duke football game. They stayed another week, and then last Thursday, Gabriella's Godmother, Marlynn and her husband, Jason and their sons Jason (Samantha's Godson) and Andy arrived to visit for a long weekend and they all attend the KU vs. Southern Mississippi football game. Both were great KU victories!

We had a great time with all of them the last two weeks. We were so sad when they left this morning. Here are some photos of the kids after the game on Saturday evening. Gabby decided she didn't want to wear pants anymore so she was running around in her KU jersey and underwear! The life of a two-year old!

Less than 3 weeks...

Until our new baby girl is due to arrive! We are getting very excited! Gabriella talks about "Baby Sister" all the time and she understands on some level that we will have a baby in the house very soon. She often times rubs and kisses Mommy's belly and says "Baby Sister is growing." It's darling!

Last week, Samantha had another sonogram and baby girl #2 is growing nicely. She is now in the 28th percentile so things look good. The sonographer took 3D and 4D photos of her, but our new scanner is giving us problems so unfortunately I can't post any of them. We think she looks a lot like Gabby, but we shall see!

I can't remember if I mentioned it in a previous post that Gabby is completely potty trained. She has been for a couple of months now. We are so proud of her! She occasionally has a wet pull-up in the morning, but most mornings is dry or gets us up in the middle of the night and tells us she has to potty. She is such a big girl! On August 28th she turned 2 1/2 years old!

Below is a really fun picture from the other night. Nonna came over to visit and brought Gabriella new Jayhawk stickers. Gabby spent some time putting every single one of them on her body. We had to convince her that they had to come off before she took a bath. Can you tell she was having a good time?!

The 2009 KU Football season is underway!

On Saturday we attended KU's first football game of the year against Northern Colorado. The Jayhawks won big 49-3! Gabby had a great time at the game and loved all of the fanfare that comes along with college football. It was a long evening for her, but she did a great job.

Before the game, Daddy brought Gabby in the stands to see the band and all of the football players up close. We spent the entire game in our family's suite in the press box. Here's Gabby smiling for the camera and enjoying the pre-game festivities.

She was so excited to see the band, cheerleaders, Big Jay and Baby Jay. She couldn't stop talking about them that evening. She loved all of it!

Fan Appreciation Day and G-Pa's Birthday

Yesterday evening we attended KU's Fan Appreciation Day at Memorial Stadium. We watched the football team practice and then waited afterward to talk with G-Pa and Uncle Tommy and get some players' autographs. Gabby had a fabulous time. She can name all four of this year's team captains and was able to get all of their autographs (with Nonna's help!) After the event, we celebrated G-Pa's birthday.

After Fan Appreciation Day, we went over to Nonna and G-Pa's to celebrate G-Pa's birthday. Gabriella loves blowing out candles so here she is blowing out G-Pa's candles.

This week's happenings!

We had a really fun and busy week. On Friday we went to the KU Kick-off Rally in Prairie Village. G-Pa spoke to a very large group of KU fans and it was a lot of fun. Here are some photos from the evening. Gabriella is sporting her new KU hat and t-shirt. She had a blast! She LOVES Big Jay and Baby Jay! She is ready for football season!

Earlier this week Nonna came over and surprised Gabby with a treasure chest full of dress-up items - jewelry, shoes and clothes. She loved it! Here she is sporting earrings and a tiara. Gabby is quite the girly girl.

We got a lot of rain earlier this week. Wednesday morning before we left for school and work, it was raining very hard so we thought it would be a great time to break out Gabby's raincoat and hat. Nonna bought these for Gabby a while ago but they finally fit her. Gabriella loves it and was so excited to pose for the camera. The set also has a matching umbrella but we didn't take that with us to school. We will save that for another day.

Happy Birthday, Daddy! Yesterday (Aug. 14) was Daddy's 28th birthday! We woke up early to give him his birthday cards and gift.

Happy 30th Anniversary!

Happy Anniversary, Nonna and G-Pa! August 4th is their official anniversary, but we celebrated a little early on Saturday. We, along with Uncle Tommy and Aunt Danielle, hosted an intimate cook out at Nonna and G-Pa's home while we enjoyed the beautiful day poolside. They wanted something casual so we honored their wishes while still recognizing this huge milestone. Great-Grandma Connie was in town visiting so she was able to join us as well.

After dinner, we surprised Nonna and G-Pa with a special gift. Back in June, one of Samantha's close friends, Fay, who is a photographer came to Lawrence to take professional photographs for a custom-made family collage we would present to them for their 30th anniversary.

All of the poses were on KU's campus. The collage included images of all of the children with Gabby, Uncle Tommy and Mommy, one of Gabby by herself and then one of each family. It turned out awesome! Fay thanks for your great work! They LOVE it!
