Adriana's Surgery

Adriana had laparoscopic surgery today to repair a hernia and she handled it like a champ! I discovered something wasn't right a few months ago and after talking with her doctor and the surgeon we decided to schedule the surgery after school let out for the year.

She was incredible brave. I was able to go back with her to the OR (in scrubs of course) and wait with her until she went under anesthesia. She got up on the operating table like a big girl and let the nurse put the mask on her. I, of course, cried a little because I was nervous, but also I was so proud of how she was handling all of it. I have never been under anesthesia before (neither has David) so not being able to relate was difficult for me. After she counted backward from 10 and inhaled enough root beer flavored gas to fall asleep, I left the OR and waited with the rest of the crew. Her surgery was about an hour and a half and went very well. The pediatric surgeon did the standard repair on one side. We didn't know how extensive it would be until she could look with the camera during surgery. We were relieved at this news. We even have keepsake pics of the procedure. I'm sure Adriana will enjoy analyzing those when she gets older. 

She is home resting and big sister Gabby is sleeping with her tonight "to keep an eye on her." It's rather cute! Once we got home later this afternoon, Adriana started to feel better. She complains of a little tenderness at three small incision points (she was glued her back together). Adriana received several get well deliveries of candy, fruit, flowers, stuffed animals and balloons. Thank you to everyone who made her feel special today!

Last Day of School!

It's truly hard to believe the school year has closed. Our first year in OKC and at Christ the King went very well. All 3 girls did very wonderfully with the adjustment both socially and academically. We are very fortunate and it's a true cause for celebration! Below are their first day and last day of school pics side by side. Love them!

Adriana has matured and grown so much this last year. She's reading and enjoys learning. First grade is just around the corner! 

Gabby's maturity and growth is so obvious in this collage. Tween phase is just ahead along with 4th grade!

Our baby girl is ready for pre-school. She cannot wait to to go the big school with her sisters next year. 

CK Field Day!

Today was the second to last day of school and FIELD DAY! The entire school is split into color teams. Gabby represented the blue team and Adriana represented the purple team. The students go all out in color -- we made tutus and colored hair as you can see. I volunteered at the school today and it was fun to watch all of the events and fun unfold.

At the end of all the events, the students (broken into groups by grade) go on the field by playground where the local fire department sprays the children with their hose from across the street. This is the highlight of the day and the kids love it!

Adriana's Dance Recital

We are so proud of Adriana! She did a great job at her annual dance recital tonight. She performed a tap routine to "Shake Your Groove Thing" and a ballet dance to "Feel the Light." I love to watch her dance! She knew her choreography very well. Go Adriana!

Adriana's Paraliturgy - She is a Kindergarten graduate!

Today was Adriana's Paraliturgy. She completed kindergarten with flying colors and we are so very proud of her. She read one of the Intercessions during the Mass and did it with such confidence and poise. First grade, here she comes! 

Mother's Day 2016

Last Friday, the Kindergarteners hosted a Mother's Day Spa. It was a great morning full of pampering and heart-warming moments...a great way to start the weekend! In all honesty, some days can be very challenging navigating the role of mom, but it's in these special times with my children that I realize what a true blessing it is to have this role and to be the mother to three amazing little girls.

Adriana read to me and sang songs that melted my heart. She also decorated a cookie for me and I received a beautiful homemade crown. I was pampered with a relaxing back massage and a one of a kind make-over. (She loves to use blush and eyeshadow.) I love her!

With my three lovely little ladies after Mass on Mother's Day. This is my 10th Mother's Day! Being a mom has made me a better person and a better daughter -- the truest gifts of motherhood. My deepest hope is that they grow up knowing I loved them unconditionally and they made me proud everyday. 

Final Regional Competition

Congratulations to Gabby on her achievements at the last regional competition last weekend. This competition had the most talent we have seen all year and the team did terrific again. Gabby's solo placed 2nd and she was 4th runner up for Ms. Petite. Her duet, small group and large group all received first place finishes. The production earned 2nd. 

It's been a fun, successful and busy competition season. We look forward to the recital in a few weeks and then Nationals in July before we wrap up the 2015-16 competition season.
