School fun!

Last Thursday was a fun and exciting day for both Adriana and Gabby. Adriana's unit at preschool last week was sports so she was able to wear a sports jersey or outfit to school.

Gabby's kindergarten class has been studying Oklahoma's history and statehood. To end the unit, the children participated in the Oklahoma Land Run which was a reenactment of the Oklahoma Land Run of 1889. On April 22, 1889 at high noon, the U.S. government opened up the 1.9 million acre Oklahoma Territory for settlers to legally claim their 160 acres of free public land. Gabby, our pioneer. I had this outfit made and it turned out really well. She was so excited about the Land Run!

The class was split into families. Gabby was in the Red River Family. Here they are before the Land Run!

And they're off... "Claim your land!" 

In search of the perfect place to settle. After finding their spot, they got their land certificate and then had a picnic. 

They had a real old fashioned wagon from the era on hand. Gabby is in the top row in the middle left smiling!

The kids played games from the time. This is the potato sack race. 

What a fun and exciting day both girls had at school! We love sharing in all their activities! I know we will treasure these memories forever! :)
